About Me

I have been in the mental health profession for over ten years and I have understood it professionally and personally. My greatest teachers of mental health have been doing my own mental health work and my clients. My clients have taught me everything I know. I value and honor their life experiences. I was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah. I am a Muslim, Pakistani American. I have had to learn how to navigate my multiple identities – daughter of immigrants, Muslim, American, Pakistani, middle child, mentally and physically ill person, brown girl, etc. – and live in a white world. I am a trauma survivor of many different forms of abuse on the micro and systemic levels. I believe suffering is inevitable, and healing is the most powerful gift and tool we have as people. I value accountability, transparency, and hard conversations. If you choose to work with me, know that we will have the hard conversations.
I specialize in trauma, specially C-PTSD. I am trained in many modalities but the more important thing to me is that you feel safe with me. I have worked with clients for 5+ years and sometimes for only a handful of sessions. Everyone deserves to feel safe, have meaningful relationships and connections, and live a full quality of life by allowing yourself to feel ALL your emotions. A few intersectionalities I especially enjoy working with are trauma, religion, cultural issues, abuse, systemic oppression, chronic illnesses, gender and gender roles, sexual identities, etc. I want to help you align with your values and get to the root of what’s causing your ailments. I work with people who are ready to do the work! There are no shortcuts!
